Note-taking Procedures

Step 1

Attend class on a regular basis and take comprehensive, legible notes. Note-takers should convey the information accurately, giving the content and the spirit of the speaker, to the best of their ability.

Step 2

Turn in the volunteer Note-taker Services Agreement to the DRC office at the start of the semester. Doing this will ensure that you receive a certificate acknowledging your volunteer service contributions, gift certificate and/or credit for Guidance 22.

Step 3

Arrange a system of exchanging notes with the DRC office or student needing the accommodation:
a. Use carbonless copy paper (provided by the DRC) and exchange notes after class or turn them into the DRC office.
b. Email notes to the DRC Office or student.
c. Make copies at the Disability Resource Center Office; or
d. Suggest another system to the staff/student to see if it works for both of you.
